Synopsis
If her love life is going down in flames, she might as well spark a revolution.

Finding out on your sixteenth birthday you’re a shape-shifting dragon is tough to swallow. Being hauled off to an elite boarding school is enough to choke on.

Since Bryn is the only crossbreed at the Institute for Excellence, all eyes are on her, but it’s a particular black dragon, Zavien, who catches her attention.

Zavien is tired of the Council’s rules. Segregated clans, being told who to love, and close-minded leaders make freedom of choice almost impossible. The new girl with the striped hair is a breath of fresh air, and with Bryn’s help, they may be able to change the rules.

At the Institute, old grudges, new crushes, and death threats are all part of a normal day for Bryn. She’ll need to learn to control her dragon powers if she wants to make it through her first year at school. But even focusing on staying alive is difficult when you’re falling for someone you can't have.

I have wanted to read this book forever, and I’ll say that I did really enjoy it.
I loved the world Chris Cannon created with Going Down in Flames. I really liked the Main Characters, Bryn and Zavien.
Plotà
I really liked the plot. I really liked the way the author set up the world and how she described things. Everything wasn’t resolved in this book it will be at least a trilogy if not more books to resolve everything, but I’m looking forward to it. You will see that there is one guy that Bryn doesn’t get along with, but I like where the author went with that.
Romance à
You can tell that there is an attraction between Bryn and Zavien and there are a little kissing but as far as the romance goes it very mild in this book.

Bestfriends/characters I loveà
I really liked Ivy and Clint Bryn befriends at the Academy. They are awesome and always brighten the scenes they were in. I really look forward to seeing them in the next book.
I also really liked Jaxon and his mother. Jaxon not at first but as the book progressed you really start to like him. As for his mother, she was always nice to Bryn, and she also helps her out.
Bryn’s grandparents also surprised me. At first I didn’t like them either, but as you get to know their character and stuff you really start to like them too.
And Byrn’s parents were awesome. I loved her mother and father, I just wished they would have been more involved in the book more.

Dislikesà
I hated the leader of the council, and Jaxon’s father Ferrin. If you read the book you will understand completely why his character is so hated.
I did like  Zavien for the most part, but I didn’t like how he was hot and cold all the time. One minute he would want Bryn, but the next he would be cold. I didn’t like it and I just wished he wasn’t that way.
I really don’t like how they get matched to a mate when they are like 16 years old or so. I’m just not a fan of this. I also don’t like how they half to be the same color. EX: If they are a blue dragon then they get matched to a blue dragon or if it was a black dragon then they would get matched to another black. There is no mixing.

Other than those few things I really did enjoy this book. I loved the world and the characters and the flow of the book. I am excited to read the next book in the series.
Happy Reading!
