Title: Kill Shot
Series: Code 11 KPD SWAT #6
Author: Lani Lynn Vale
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Bennett had the world in the palm of his hands when he was sixteen, then he allowed his dick to do the thinking for him.
That one night changed his life, giving him a child that would forever alter the course of his life, and an ex that was a crazy nut case on the best of days.
With the help of his parents, he went into the Navy, becoming the SEAL that he always wanted to be. However, with that came a price.
A price he wasn’t willing to pay anymore once his little girl started to realize why he wasn’t there. So he came home and joined the local SWAT team, starting his life anew, just his daughter and him.
Then he meets the cute little physician’s assistant that looks down at him like one would an annoying fly, and he finally realizes just what he’s been missing.
Something that takes his mind off of the challenge of everyday life. Someone that dares him to be a better father and police officer.
And Lennox is one hell of a motivator.
Their relationship starts off rocky as the two of them circle each other like opponents ready to do combat rather than two civil adults. Every day brings a new battle for the two of them to overcome, and before they realize it, they’ll be fighting for each other instead of against each other.
Because there’s one woman who doesn’t want either one of them to be happy…especially not together.
After Bennett gets hurt on the job, he goes to the hospital to get fixed up. There he meets Lennox, the Physician’s assistant. Right off there is this undeniable attraction to each other. And after this encounter they start to see more of each other at random times; like a restaurant, the hospital, and possibly the street.
After a little while they start have friends with benefits type of fling. But Lennox has a little problem. She has a stalker, who was her roommate in college. And it doesn’t just stop there, Bennett’s starts having trouble with his baby momma. Through both of their troubles do they both stick together and work through it together, or does their relationship crash and burn?
Well, it probably will not be a surprise but I really liked this book. I loved Bennett and Lennox and Bennett’s little girl. I’m a sucker for single fathers. I really liked Bennett’s relationship with Lennox. At first they were just friends with benefits, you know how that goes. It always turns into more.
I also liked watching them fall for each other. And Lani staying true to what she writes, I really liked the plot. I loved the suspense of the book and I liked where Bennett was there to save her.
I also really liked where we got to see some of the past characters in the book. You know the team. And the woman who stole their hearts. Lennox’s two best friends where hilarious. Especially the guy. It was great when they were in a scene. And when they are all together you know that things are going to get funny and they did.
Now there was one part I didn’t like and that was how Bennett handled a situation. He was a total dick about it. I thought he could have handled it better. You will know which part I’m talking about after you read the book. Like that’s the only thing I didn’t like.
Overall, it had great characters, great plot, and awesome friends. I really liked this installment to the series. Sure, Bennett made like one dumb-ass decision but I forgave him. You will too hopefully. I honestly can't wait for the next book in the series. Like is that going to be the last book or what? And if it is i don't like it. I need some more books from this series. It's one of my all time favorite series. And I'll admit, I love the covers, but who wouldn't like them?
