Blog Tour & Giveaway --> Within These Walls by J.L. Berg

--About WITHIN THESE WALLS--

Within these walls, he became my solace, my sanctuary and my strength.

I am not strong.  I am just a survivor of circumstance.
Isn’t that what we all do?  Survive?

Each of us has our own set of circumstances to muddle through.  Mine are just more…complicated.

Born with a severe heart defect, I’ve seen the inside of a hospital room more than my own bedroom.

I was drowning, a prisoner to the illness that owned me, until he appeared.  He thinks he’s blocked out the world with his tattoos and hard exterior, but I see the real Jude, the one he so desperately wants to forget.

But is he the answer to my prayers or will he break my already damaged heart forever?

My name is Lailah Buchanan, and this is our story of hope, redemption and sacrificing it all for the one you love.

--5 stars—

I don't know about you all but I have read all of J.L. Berg's books and they keep getting better. Even though I said I was afraid to read this book, I'm glad I did. It's totally up there on my list of top books for 2014.

I was very afraid to read this book. After reading some of the teasers and blurb of the book, who wouldn't be? The main character has a heart defect. I don't know about you but usually when it has the words Heart or defect, you usually know it's not going to end well. From the beginning of the book you know that Lailah is the one with the heart defect but you don't really know how serious it is. But as you read you realize it's a pretty serious issue. I really felt sorry for Lailah, especially after reading about her life. She can't do anything normal such as: dating, going to the grocery store, going to the movies, going to prom, or going to the ocean. And the list is pretty much endless. Thank god she has a friend that is also her nurse, Grace. She is an awesome best friend to Lailah.

Jude, well I don't really know what to think of him at first. You do get some background information at the beginning so that helps on understanding where he's coming from. Not going to say too much more, but he defiantly did not have an easier life prior to where he is now.

Jude was exactly what Lailah needed. And Lailah was exactly what Jude needed.
Overall, it was a lovely story with heartache, romance, and two very lost people finding one another.

Congratulations to J.L. Berg on another release along with a great story!

So, I can see why everyone is gushing about this book.I knew I wanted to read it as soon as I read the blurb about it. I thought Across the Universe was a great book. It was written very well and I like everything about it. I love space books. Absolutely love them. I also like how the author created new technology, along with how she describes things.

So, you’re probably wondering why I only rated it 4 stars even though I was gushing about how awesome the book was? Well it's because the first part of the book was a little slow , for me atleast. I was wanting answers... Okay, so maybe i was a little inpatient, but how could I not be? The book sucks you in and you are wanting to know what the heck is going on. The last part of the book is where it really gets good. More of the story is introduced.

I so recommend this series to sci-fi lovers.

3.5 stars--

So why did I rate this book lower than the other two books in the series?
well to answer that question, its simple. The book was good, but it wasn't great. It had more of a calm plot compared to the other books in the series. Not much happened in the book. I think that it could of had a little more conflict.

Likes:
--Luka was Russian. I loved when he would talk to Aubrey in Russian during some of their moments.
--Luka was smart. Usually in a book it doesn't really mention anything about the guy being good at anything except sports & being a manwhore.
--Luka plays Hockey. Usually I'm not into sports, but this book made hockey sound so fun. I would actually like to go to a hockey game now.
--Aubrey acted more mature. In previous books, I wasn't really a fan of Aubrey. Towards the end of the first book, that's when you actually start to notice her changing a little.

--Grapefruit: enough Said
Dislikes:
--Kat: enough said.
--I wanted a little more on what their plan was after graduating.

To pretty much some up the book, I liked it and I liked Luka. He was such an alpha in this book. His alpha meter was turned on pretty much all through the book. But I'm not complaining. He didn't hold anything back. And Aubrey was a new Aubrey to be honest. She wasn't like the one in the first book that was boy crazy, she was toned down quiet a bit. I also like that she went to Alexa when she wanted some advice. It use to be the other way around so that was nice.

--Excerpt--
“Oomph,” I grunted into a hard chest as warm hands grasped my arms to steady me. I took a deep breath and a woodsy scent that was somehow both spicy and a little bit sweet hit my nose. I didn’t think I’d ever met a guy who smelled this good before.
“You okay?” a deep voice murmured.
“Yes,” I whispered as I looked up into green eyes, my hands resting against his chest.
“Good. Wouldn’t want to start my night off by mowing down defenseless women, now would I?” he asked as I moved away.
I couldn’t help the laugh that bubbled up at that since I’m the one who ran into him. “No, we certainly wouldn’t,” I said as I stepped into the elevator.
I watched his ass, lovingly hugged by his jeans, as he walked away with a couple of guys I hadn’t even noticed. And just like that, my libido jumped back to life. Holy fucking shit.

*ARC from Entangled Publishing in exchange for Honest Review*

I really like reading Jennifer's Books. I like her writing style and her stories.

I really liked Becky. She was a terrific mom and she would do just about anything to keep her daughter safe. She was a strong female lead character.
Logan Knight, former Marine and a cowboy. How could you not like that combination? I certainly liked the package. I actually felt sorry for Logan. He had some heavy stuff falling on his shoulders after his 10 years being a Marine. I actually really liked what he wanted to do for other marines who suffers PTSD ( read the book to find out).
The book was quite predictable and didn't hold any big surprise, but it was just a sexy romance book that you could easy get sucked into.

I can't wait for the next book.

Lex Martin
A New Adult Romance

--About Finding Dandelion--
When soccer all-star Jax Avery collides with Dani Hart on his twenty-first birthday, their connection is instantaneous and explosive. For the first time in years, Jax isn’t interested in his usual hit-it and quit-it approach.

But Dani knows better. Allowing herself a night to be carefree and feel the intensity of their attraction won’t change anything when it comes to dealing with a player. So when Jax doesn’t recognize Dani the next time he sees her, it shouldn’t be a total shock. The fact that he’s her new roommate's brother? That’s a shock.

Dani doesn’t regret that night with Jax, just the need to lie about it. Since her roommate has made it clear what she thinks about her brother’s “type” of girl, the last thing Dani wants is to admit what happened.

Jax knows he’s walking a fine line on the soccer team. One more misstep and he’s off the roster, his plans to go pro be damned. Except he can’t seem to care. About anything… except for the one girl who keeps invading his dreams.

Despite Jax’s fuzzy memory of his hot hookup with his sister’s friend, he can’t stay away from her, even if it means breaking his own rules. But there are bigger forces at work–realities that can end Dani’s college career and lies that can tear them apart.

Jax realizes what he’s losing if Dani walks away, but will he sacrifice his future to be with her? And will she let him if he does?

FINDING DANDELION, the second book in the Dearest series, is a stand-alone novel. This New Adult romance is recommended for readers 18+ due to mature content.

--Review--
*Arc provided by the Author in exchange for an Honest review*

So, I was a little hesitant to read this book because of the way Jax was in the first book. I can honestly say that as soon as I started reading this book that it wasn't going to be how I predicted it was going to be. The book was better than I expected. Jax was actually really enjoyable. In the book he proves that a womanizer/ manwhore can actually be a sweet caring guy. Danielle, was enjoyable too. When you were first introduced to Dani in the first book, you picture as a shy little thing. But when you actually start to read about her, you realize it's not the case. In my opinion Dani was exactly what Jaz needed.

I really enjoyed Dani's best friend, Travis. He is the kind of best friend every girl needs. I loved how those too joked around. And he was always their for Dani when she needed him.

The book had laugh your ass odd parts, whole box of tissue parts, and steamy parts. Overall I loved the book. Jax is right up their with Gavin with the book boyfriends. Each one of them has something different that just make you fall in love with them.

I so cannot wait for book three, Kissing Madeline!

When I first read the Synopsis for this book, it really had my attention. And I thought the cover was gorgeous. However, I was slightly disappointed in this book.

I liked the first of the book, but about a quarter of the ways in the main character was getting on my nerves. I’m not going to say why because I don’t want to spoil the book. And when I actually started to really like her, Owen got on my nerves towards the end of the book. I just didn't like some things that Owen did or things that happened in the book. And another things was the sex. It seemed like every other page they were going at it. I'm all for some hot action but to me, this book had a little too much.

Yes the book was hot, but I wanted some interaction between the characters not them between the sheets all the time. I wanted them to go out and do couple things. I do plan to read another book (if there is one) because I want to see what happens. Yes, I did like the book, but I did not love it.

I watch Olivia leave the bar, and I’m pissed as hell.  I’m angry that she left.   Furious that I didn’t stop her from leaving.  And now I’m resentful that I need to hang out with my friends when what I really want to do is put my lips all over Olivia.   She’s confident and sexy, funny and beautiful, engaging and captivating.   I was a fool for letting her walk away just now.   I just hope I haven’t completely fucked things up with her.  I take my phone out of my front jeans pocket and send Olivia a text.
I WILL call you later.
Wait for me to help you take that dress off.

*Review*

To be honest here, I wasn't as excited for this book as I was for the other books. But now that i have read it and got their story I can say that I did love it. I really liked how she had the flashbacks with coop. I can understand why he was such a man whore and didn't want to settle down. Poor Asher. I really didn't expect much out of him, but i know that i should of. Harper just isn't capable of writing a sucky book. Each of her Character's has a characteristic that makes you fall in love with them. Its just now her flow. Asher was a total Alpha in and out of the bedroom. And I have noticed that in all of Harper's books that they are the hard core Alphas as in they don't even want their friends to touch their woman. Thats totally hot. I really liked Chelcie. I like how she was their for Asher. Especially when he had his days where he missed his brother. I also like how they give each other nick names. And the Sex: totally hot.

Now I half to confess that I was wondering when Maddox was going to show up. I am on #teamMaddoxLocke. I have been since the first book. The broken ones, its always the broken one that get you. With me Confessing that I am team Maddox I cannot freaking wait for his book. I loved the little snippet you get from his POV in this book. And him calling Emmy his Angel? OMG I totally swooned at that part. And I loved Emmy in this book to. I have a feeling that Maddox & Em's book is going to be the best.
