Sometimes the heart wants what it can’t have.
That’s the motto Silas Mackenzie, the president of The Dixie Wardens MC, has lived by since he was a young man.
Now he’s well on the way to middle age, has three grown children, and he’s lusting after a woman he should definitely stay away from.
Especially not one that his ex-girlfriend had given birth to, and happened to be only twenty seven years old.
Sawyer isn’t a young girl at heart, though.
She’s seen the inside of a jail cell for eight long years, and every one of them she spent paying for a crime she didn’t commit.
Silas Mackenzie knows as soon as he sees her that the girl has sacrificed enough.
And maybe…just maybe…so has Silas.
It’s time for Silas Mackenzie to get what he deserves, and put a little bit of happy back into Sawyer’s world, one rough, bearded kiss at a time.
We have finally got one of the most anticipated books from Lani Lynn Vale. And of course she did not disappoint. Silas was everything I was hoping for and then some.
First off, I wanted to just say that I was iffy about this book. In the synopsis we learn that it’s his ex-girlfriends daughter. I don’t like books where the guy sleeps around after meeting the mc, I also don’t like it when there’s cheating, or like if the guy or the girls spouse dies and they love them. I prefer when they hate their husband/wife. And when the guy dates his ex-girlfriends daughter. But, I’m glad this book was safe. So far all of Lani’s books are safe, so that is awesome and one of the reason why she is one of my favorite authors.
Silas was one of the guys I was really looking forward to getting his book. Throughout all of Lani’s books he is the guy that takes charge. And in his book that is no different. I really like that he’s a Alpha male who don’t take no shit and he’s loyal to his woman.
Sawyer is also another female character that I love of lani’s. In the beginning I feel so sorry for her after what happened. Especially after her life fell apart. But, the good thing is is she meets Silas. And honestly they are a perfect match for each other. I was also iffy about their age difference but it worked out perfectly.
As you know, in Lani’s books there’s going to be some suspense and lots of romance. She definitely didn’t disappoint in either of those areas. This book was all just one big mystery with lots of romance. I figured that it would have something to do with Silas’s past but it also had some to do with Sawyer’s too.
Overall, I thought it was a perfect addition to the Dixie Wardens. Silas was a perfect alpha, and I’m glad we got some answers we were longing for. Sawyer was a great addition to the group. She fit in right along with all of the others.
This book had a great plot with Suspense /romance/ and action. It also turned out to be safe, which I have come to expect out of Lani now. If she ever wrote a book that wasn’t safe then I don’t know what I would do. I would probably be heartbroken.
If you have loved all of her other books then you will love this one too.
