Hayes Greer knew the moment that he saw the feisty Ares Downy again that he should’ve stayed away. Maybe if he hadn’t done the stupid calendar, he wouldn’t be questioning every single woman’s intentions.
Maybe if he’d listened to that niggling feeling telling him to stay away, he would’ve been able to do his job a little better. But seeing her with a knife to her throat, in the middle of a building set to blow, made his usually well-wired brain start to malfunction.
Because nobody was allowed to touch her like that—only him. Nobody was allowed to scare her, either. Not and live to tell the tale.

Loved Ares and Hayes’s book. I loved how he was grumpy and didn’t really like people. He was so sweet and protective of Ares after he got to know her a little. Hayes was a little damaged but Ares was what he needed in his life.
Ares was a funny and quirky heroine that we’ve come know of Lani’s characters. I loved how she loved her students and actually cared for them.
She has suck a big heart.
Most of all, i was a little surprised at a few things that happened in the book.
Usually with Lani’s book I know whats going to happen, bit i was actually surprised in this book.
I loved the suspense in this book. It seemed to have more than her last few books which i loved.
